Project Description
Project Overview
The ‘Ancient Chapelry of Formby’ – St. Peter’s Church – dates from the mid 1700’s, and has an 1870’s built neogothic style addition to it’s east end.
When the Westmorland random slate roof covering became due for replacement BBR roofing were employed to carry out the works, according to the Architect’s specification.
The roof covering was stripped back to the original timber sarking, to allow for inspection and replacement of any defec-tive timbers, prior to the application of a new underslating membrane and the replacement of the roof slates. Any defec-tive Westmorland slates were replaced with new material. The coping stones were temporarily removed to allow for effective installation of lead flashings and soakers.
All works were successfully carried out with regard to the protection of the decorative ceiling to the underside of the roof and the general church interior.
