Project Overview

Built in the 1960’s, Bootle New Strand Shopping Centre has been a major landmark in the community of Bootle, to the North of Liverpool City, ever since.

The majority of the shopping centre is under a flat roof, with glazed atriums providing natural light in between. Upon taking ownership, new owners Ellani, embarked a programme of re-roofing and BBR Roofing, through consultants Workman, were appointed to carry out the refurbishment.

Requiring a huge logistical exercise, the existing roof covering comprising of stone chippings, mastic asphalt, cork and insulated screed was removed entirely and replaced with a high performance bituminous membrane system from Bauder. Tapered insulation was incorporated to provide the required thermal and drainage performance.

The Bauder roof system was provided with a twenty year guarantee, but can be expected to be still protecting the Strand for many years after that.
