Project Description
Project Overview
Hexagon Tower is a specialist science and technology facility located in Blackley, North Manchester. Formerly an ICI research, development and production centre, the Tower today provides laboratory & office accommodation for science and technology-based organisations.
When the owners of the tower decided to refurbish the flat roof waterproofing to the two wings of lower level laboratory areas, and simultaneously help to fulfil their commitment to improving their carbon footprint, BBR Roofing were appointed to carry out the works.
Following a Bauder specification, the existing roof surfacing was removed and overlaid with a full Bauderflex roof system including bituminous vapour barrier, 120mm insulation and two layer waterproofing.
All works had to be carried out without disruption to the tenant businesses operating in the laboratories & offices below.
In addition to the flat roof works, BBR also carried out re-waterproofing works to the podium car park and ramp, with Triflex car park waterproofing system.
Included in the refurbishment contract with BBR Roofing was the re-waterproofing of the podium level car-park and access ramp. This was car-ried out using a Triflex Car Park Waterproofing system, following on site core sampling and adhesion testing by Triflex to confirm the correct specification.
Pedestrian walkways were marked out in a specific blue RAL colour, to match the company branding of the adjacent business tenants.
