Project Description
Project Overview
Pensby High School on The Wirral has a mix of tiled pitched roofs and multiple flat roof areas. When the flat roof coverings of mineral surface bitumen felts were found to be nearing the end of their natural life the decision was taken by the school and their Local Authority consultants to refurbish the roofs before they to deteriorated to the point of requiring major refurbishment works or allowing serious water ingress, which would in turn lead to the need for internal redecoration and repair.
A refurbishment specification was provided by liquid applied waterproofing UK manufacturer Polyroof, utilising their Protec system. Protec is a liquid-applied, glass-reinforced, flexible modified polyester system, with s 25 year life expectancy (BBA Certificate), and BBR Roofing are approved installers of this system.
25 separate roof areas were refurbished using this system by our trained and skilled operatives over a period which spanned from the school’s summer holidays to the following Christmas break.
The logistics of providing safe access to a large number of roof areas, not always inter-connected, as well as safe movements around the large site were challenging, but successfully carried out, a fact which was recorded by the school in a complimentary letter to the BBR management.
